Alexandra Maria Lara (born in Romania) is an Romanian actor and TV host. She is best known for her role as the lead in Rush, Downfall Youth Without Youth Control as well as Rush. As the sole child of Romanian actress Valentin Platareanu. Alexandra began her career in showbiz at a young age. She was a lead actress in TV dramas as young at the age of 16. Her highly acclaimed performance on the TV film that was made to air Der Tunnel paved way for some other memorable roles such as the role as Adolf Hitler's secretary Traudl Junge, in the commercially and critically highly successful Oscar nominated war-time drama film Downfall. The Reader, Der Baader Meinhof Komplex and The Reader are also Oscar-nominated films featuring the female diva. Alexandra participated in several well-known national and international projects over time. This includes the British biographical films Control Greek drama film The Dust of Time and the French historical miniseries Napoleon as well as other miniseries. In addition, she was a member of the jury for the Cannes Film Festival and the Transylvania International Film Festival.
